Cornflower/Bachelor’s Button’s

The cornflower or Bachelor’s Button’s scientific classification is Asteraceae the scientific name is Cenautrea cyanus.  The cornflower is all over Texas and all over the United States.  The cornflower’s leaves are covered with small white hairs, the original color was blue.  The blooming time is March-May.  The cornflower can grow to 2-3 feet tall.  The cornflower can be used for roadsides, vacant lots, borders, and flower gardens.  There are 2 interesting facts about the cornflower plant, they are multi-stemmed, and there are more colors now in white, pink, and red. I have some cornflower in my garden at school.  We love Texas wild flowers!
